Hurricane Relief Information

In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, we know of SMA families in the affected areas who are now possibly without homes or any way to make a living.  We've got available a full list of supplies we've already sent out and are ready to continue to send at any time when needed, which include formula, Tolerex & Vivonex, asthma and SMA respiratory medication, clothing in various sizes, different age-appropriate toys, books and videos, multiple sizes of bipap and cough assist masks, tubing, filters, comfort flaps, assorted sizes of g-tube extensions and suction catheters,  various sizes and models of feeding pump bags, syringes, and pulse ox probes, cloths, ambubags, various trach supplies, personal hygiene supplies, money for gas, food and other necessities, and so on.

We are accepting financial donations through SMA Support so that we can send each family we become aware of monetary assistance to help with food, water, and survival expenses as so many families are now without any income at all. This falls within SMA Support's mission of supporting families with SMA.

So, two things.

1). If you would like to donate money to go to hurricane relief specifically for SMA Families, you can send a check or money order made out to: SMA Support, PO Box 6301, Kokomo, IN 46904; or you can donate via credit card at http://www.smasupport.com/donate-now.htm  at the credit card link there, or via PayPal at the PayPal link on that page as well. Check or PayPal are the best options.  If you donate via PayPal, be sure to send a separate e-mail to let me know that it is for Hurricane relief since they don't allow comments on that donation page. Remember that many people no longer have places to work, jobs to go to, any money coming in at all. So I'm sure that any and everything will add up to help!

2). If you know of a family in the area hit by Katrina or Rita, and can contact them, please let them know that we will do the best we can to assist them. We've got a good stock of supplies, some equipment, a lot of disposable items, and we'll help out financially per family as best we can.  We'll all do our best to take care of any SMA family that we know of as they try to figure out where to go and what is next after this incredible catastrophe.
